A New Way

Finally! Though I'm not finished updating ALL the pages, the new style is so convenient and easy to use that I couldn't wait anymore to switch the pages over that I have done. So far, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are finished. Now, when you click a day from this page, you will go to the new page that will help you sort out ALL those posts much faster and easier.

The first thing you will see is 6 drop down menus in the center of the screen. Use these to sort out what you're looking for, food, drink, restaurant, area, activity or time of day. If you are the type of person who likes to see all the choices in a list form, you can scroll down past the drop downs to see everything displayed. If you simply miss the old style, don't worry, it's still there! Just click the big green button "Browse all listings for today", and it will hop you back into the usual Santa Cruz Specials format.

I also made many of the links into attractive buttons, they are on the right of the page for easy navigation. I hope you all like the changes! It takes a long time to do each page, but I plan to work hard and finish up the other pages very soon! I welcome all feedback and constructive criticism, everything helps.

Beer!

It's been a while since I've showcased the beer choices for one day, so here we go. I'm not going to list these one by one, since there are 25 choices! Here is the beer list I've got, by clicking "thursday" then "beer" (pretty easy?):

Lobster

I love Lobster, but I don't love the price! This is why I don't get to eat lobster very much.  When I do though, I make sure I scout out a good deal.  Luckily here in Santa Cruz, it seems a lot of businesses make the effort to offer us a lobster deal, especially on weekdays! So for Wednesday, I'm sorting the lists to lobster.  There are two places that we have listed here on Santa Cruz Specials:

• Paradise Beach Grille - $25.00 for Lobster AND filet mignon, mashed potatoes and vegetables. 
• Ideal Bar & Grille - $14.95 Live Maine Lobster

There you have it, go get yourself some lobster. I want to take a minute to point out that I sort the list in each day by clicking on a category from the list on the right of your screen.  By clicking Lobster, the huge list is narrowed down to whatever has been labeled with Lobster.  This is REALLY helpful, especially since there are a lot of listings now!

A great addition to the site is 515 Kitchen & Cocktails. I've been here a few times and I love it, but I just found out that have a happy hour, which makes me love them even more. 4-7 pm daily, stop by 515 Kitchen & Cocktails to get Appetizers & drink specials between $3 and $5! Here's the post:

Looking for a good Happy Hour today? Stagnaro Bros on the wharf (upper deck) has a great Happy Hour, Monday - Friday, 3-5 pm. Get $3 Beers, $4 Wine, and $2 off your Appetizers. Here's the post:

Sushi Update!

There is an update to a local Sushi restaurant, Masako, on Mission street at Bay. The restaurant is now called Kawa, but supposedly offers the same great deals! Here's the new post:

La Mission Mexican Restaurant

Thank you Michelle for today's addition, on the Mission Street side of town. La Mission Mexican restaurant offers a happy hour that is hard to beat. $3 Drafts, Margarita specials, and the best part? Pink Godzilla

Alright! Finally found some info on this deal at Pink Godzilla. My friend Sarah had been saying they had lunch specials there that were really good, but she didn't have the details. It's been on my to-do list (more like to-do novel) for a long time. I happened to see the ad, and that cleared almost everything up. The only thing that is still a little foggy is what choices there are, so if you go, let me know! Starting at $6.95 you can get a great lunch from 11:30 - 4 at Pink Godzilla, Tuesday to Friday. Absinthe

If you've had absinthe before, you know it's unique flavor.  If you haven't had it, now's the time to try! Tuesday nights at The Crepe Place there are some great deals on imported absinthe.  5 p.m. - close in the bar, up to $3 off.  Aside from that there is a great Happy Hour for low price cocktails, beers & appetizers.  While you're there, stay for a late night deal: after 10, $8-$9 will get you half a crepe and half a salad or a cup of soup.
